/ReadFabio Scherer already haeds to the next race this weekend. In Road Atlanta (USA), the LMP2 driver will compete in the “Petit Le Mans” for High Class Racing.
After finishing second in the ELMS race in Spa-Francorchamps last weekend, Fabio Scherer (23) heads already to the next race: the finale of the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup at Road Atlanta in the US state of Georgia. For Scherer, it will be the sixth race on the other side of the Atlantic in 2022. And after the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring, another highlight in his career.
“I’m really looking forward to this 10-hour race and I’m very curious to see whether the track is as fast in real life as it is in the simulator,” says Scherer. “Road Atlanta is a typical old-school track with exciting corner combinations, a few blind corners and few run-off zones. I love tracks like this. Although this one is already very short at just under four kilometres, considering there are almost 50 cars in the race.”
Scherer will share his Oreca LMP2 from Team High Class Racing in the “Petit Le Mans” with his two Danish teammates Anders Fjordbach and Dennis Andersen. The trio are in third position ahead of the final race.
“It would be nice if we could finish the season on the podium,” says Scherer, who is supported by STOBAG, ATS Banding System and Wexler. “Of course, it would be even nicer if we could finish the season with a win. At the last race in Elkhart Lake, which was part of the Sprint Cup, we were already very close.”
Things get underway for Scherer on Thursday morning with the first free practice session at 9.50 a.m. local time. The ten-hour race will start on Saturday lunchtime at 12.10 (18.10 CEST) and last until 22.10 (4.10 CEST). The race can be followed live and in full on the official livestream on IMSA.tv
