This weekend Fabio Scherer will contest the third round of the IMSA Endurance Cup. The race in Watkins Glen lasts six hours and is a new experience for the driver from the High Class Racing team.

After the races in Europe, Fabio Scherer (23) has another race in the USA on the agenda this weekend. As part of the IMSA Endurance Cup, the professional racing driver from Engelberg, who is supported by STOBAG, ATS Banding System and Wexler, will complete the 6-hour race at Watkins Glen in the US state of New York. It is the third race in the USA for Scherer this year.

“I’m really looking forward to it,” says Scherer. “This track also has a lot of tradition and an old-school character. I love that. Besides, I have a good feeling after the experiences in the simulator. The track is very fast and varied, despite numerous corners. I’m convinced: it’s going to be a good race!”

Scherer will share the cockpit of High Class Racing’s LMP2 Oreca 07 with his two Danish team-mates Anders Fjordbach and Dennis Andersen on the 5.472-kilometre circuit in Watkins Glen. Scherer has already driven with them at the 24 Hours of Daytona at the end of January and at the 12h race in Sebring in March.

“We know each other pretty well by now. And we also function perfectly as a team. The traffic will certainly be a big challenge. In addition, the track is not very forgiving. The guard rails are very close to the edge of the track.”

When it comes to setting goals, Scherer makes a clear statement: “We finally want to achieve a podium finish. After the bad luck in the first races, we would have deserved that!”

The start of the 6-hour race in Watkins Glen will be on Sunday, 26th June, at 10.40 a.m. local time (4.40 p.m. CEST). The race can be watched live on the official livestream on IMSA.tv.
