What a lovely Christmas-present! After a very tough and character building season in the international FIA Formula 3 championship 2019 Fabio Scherer moves on to DTM, the most popular touring car championship in Europe. The 20-year young driver who is supported by Stobag and ATS banding systems managed to conclude an agreement with WRT Team Audi Sport from Belgium for the upcoming DTM-season. Alongside of teammate Ed Jones who recently raced in the USA Fabio is looking forward to his new challenge.

“It is a dream which comes true”, says Fabio. “I always followed DTM. I was racing close to DTM in the last years when I was in Formula 4 and Formula 3. And I imagined many times how it would be to race in such a competitive championship.”

Fabio already had a taste of how it feels to drive the Audi RS5 when he tested for the Belgian squad in Jerez in December.

“That was just amazing”, says Fabio. “I really loved it from the very first moment. The behavior of the Audi is very similar to what I know from Formula 3 in 2018. I really look forward to 2020. I think we can achieve a lot. And I want to thank everybody who made that happen.”

Fabios teamprincipal Vincent Vosse is also delighted. “I would like to welcome Fabio and Ed, two young drivers who have already proven their value. Once again we are giving an opportunity to young talent which is one of our core principles. I am convinced that Fabio and Ed will contribute a lot to the growth of WRT Team Audi Sport in our crucial second season in DTM.”

Fabio will have the next opportunity to test his new car during the official tests at Monza from 16th to 18th of March. The season starts end of April in Zolder.
